Who’s Your Ultimate Celebrity of 2010?

2010 has been quite a year for our favourite (and not so favourite) celebrities. There have been so many weird and wonderful stories from the world of showbiz, and so many celebs that have won over our hearts!

Who could ever forget the year that Sandra Bullock won an Oscar, the end of Big Brother or the year that Bieber Fever took over?

There’s been so many celebrities from the world of music, film and tv that we’ve especially loved this year and here are our top 10.

1. Simon Cowell
Simon is our favourite ‘no-nonsense’ celeb. Having had a controversial year with the X Factor, he’s now planning to launch X Factor USA in the new year!

2. Glee
If we had told you 12 months ago that in a year’s time you’d all be obsessed with an all-singing, all-dancing tv show about a school choir, then we somehow don’t think you would have believed us!

3. Justin Bieber
Bieber Fever definitely took off in 2010. At only 16 years old he’s had over 1 billion hits on YouTube, sold over 8 millions albums and is apparently due to release a perfume!

4. Kelly Osbourne
What a year Kelly Osbourne has had. After appearing on Dancing with the Stars last year she’s gone on to beat her previous drug and drink addictions, recently been voted best celebrity body and is set to be starring in some exciting projects in 2011!

5. Drew Barrymore
We know that Drew isn’t new to celebrity circles but we think she’s had an amazing year! She’s part of Hollywood’s cutest couple (Justin Long), she was in our favourite Rom/Com of the year Going the Distance, directed her first feature film Whip It! and she’s found her fashion stride having been voted on loads of best dressed lists this year!

6. Cheryl Cole
The nation’s sweetheart Cheryl has had a rollercoaster of a year! A judge on the most popular reality show, a string of Number One singles (and albums) a battle with Malaria and divorcing Ashley Cole!

7. Take That
Everyone’s favourite ‘manband’ Take That reunited with Robbie Williams this year. After announcing a mammoth UK stadium tour for 2011 (which sold out in only a few hours) and the biggest selling album of this century, it looks like the boys are back for good (get it?).

8. Russell Brand and Katy Perry
Arguably one of the biggest celebrity couples in the world, up there with Brad and Angelina and the Beckhams, Brand and Perry tied the knot in India earlier this year!

9. Lady Gaga
Gaga had one of the biggest singles of the year with Telephone and still shocks us all with her outrageous fashion choices! We love Gaga!

10. Rihanna
It was only this time last year that RiRi was promoting Rated R. Now back with Loud, she has arguably her best singles, has performed twice on X Factor, become red head (and bought back the perm) as well as remaining one our favourite fashionistas.

X Factor: Style Wars

What another exciting weekend of X Factor. This weekend it was all about the judges. Simon and Cheryl had a nice fake tan joke at the start of the show, Louis didn’t have a bad word to say about any of the contestants and Dannii won in the style stakes, again.

Cheryl opted for an Azzaro jumpsuit for Saturday’s show.

While Dannii went for a Victoria Beckham design.

For the result show Cheryl opted for black again.

Dannii also dressed in black Antonio Berardi cocktail dress.

Storm Lee and Diva Fever were the unlucky acts to go home last night, which didn’t come as much of a shock to anyone. Do you think the right acts went home? And which judge was your best dressed? Leave us a comment and let us know!

Britain’s Got Talent Is Back!

Yay, we’re all very excited in the Models Own office as Britain’s Got Talent is back on our screens tonight. Simon, Piers and Amanda will take their seats on the judging panel once more to decide who is the most talented in Britain.

On tonight’s show we’ll see the likes of 10-year-old Chloe Hickinbottom singing ‘White Cliffs of Dover,’ along with a trio dressed in orange, pink and red full bodied cat suits performing interpretive dance.

Last year’s winners Diversity have gone from strength to strength after winning last year’s show. Soon to appear in this summers film, Street Dance along with George Sampson, here’s a reminder why we all fell in love with the dance troupe last year.

Socks and Shoes - The Debate!

We’ve been having a fashion debate in the Models Own office all morning. Would you wear socks and shoes? One half thinks that it’s a fashion must-have for this season, while the other thinks it’s a fashion faux-pas, but which team do you agree with?

Socks and Shoes – Lines need to be drawn

There are some things that just shouldn’t be done. Spitting in public, not tipping in restaurants, Simon Cowell type waistlines for example.

In my books socks and shoes have far too close a tie with socks and sandals, which is one of the worst fashion faux-pas of all time. How is this suddenly the fashionable footwear look of choice this season!? Based on recent hideous throw- backs to the 90s, (bum bags! Really?!) we shouldn’t really be surprised, but lines need to be drawn!

These fashion crimes can be accepted when committed by children, (who know no better) and the elderly, (who tend to go for function over fashion). The catwalks at fashion week should not be let off so lightly.

If the choice is made based on the fickleness of our British summers, then there are far more aesthetically pleasing alternatives, like ballet pumps, plimpsoles or even ankle boots.  If you do decide to brave a skirt without tights, why oh why would you reach for socks to match up with a cute pair of heels?

Socks + Heels = Spring Time Chic

Ok, so let’s get something clear. When I say that I like the socks and shoes look I’m not talking about socks and sandals, I’m talking about patterned girly socks with a pair of killer heels. This cutesy look has been seen on the runways for the past few seasons, but it’s only now filtering through to the mainstream and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.

Perfect for spring, this look has been everywhere, from the set of the new Sex and the City film to the cast of Gossip Girl, from Burberry runways to the streets of Brighton, and I love it!

Don’t get me wrong, this quirky look isn’t for everyone; you have to be confident with it! Teamed up with a pastel tea dress or a summer playsuit this Alice in Wonderland inspired look will be everywhere this year.
