X Factor: Get The Look

This weekend’s Halloween themed X Factor saw some great gothic looks from all the contestants - even the boys! (Yes you Aiden we noticed the gold eyeshadow!)

Our favourite look was from Cher Lloyd. Cher got some great feedback from the judges, with Simon commenting that she gave “the performance of the entire season”.

For a statement look like Cher’s go for Black Magic nail polish, apply Graphite Grey powder eyeshadow to eyelids and finish with Sheer Sparkle Lipstick.

When The Chips Are Down, Make-Up Makes Us Feel Better

Since the recession struck in 2008 most of us have been watching the pennies and spending less – apart from when it comes to make-up, that is!

In the past year the sale of nail varnish in the UK has risen by 11%, which on the surface may not seem like much, but when the cosmetic industry makes £1.2 billion in the UK each year, it’s actually quite a bit.

There are a few reasons why the make-up industry has had such success in a time when others have failed. Firstly, it’s a lot cheaper for us to treat ourselves to a new eye liner or lipstick than it is that new pair of Jimmy Choos or even that Topshop bag.  Secondly, to make us feel better; Selfridges director Anne Pitcher says that wearing a red lipstick or bright nail varnish gives women that feel-good factor as well as a confidence boost.

Not only does make-up give us a boost but it can also instantly change our look. A touch of nail colour or a splash of lipstick can take our look from day to night by dressing up an outfit with a bit of glamour

Why not try our top-selling colours: Top Turquoise, Emerald City, Magenta Divine or Lilac Dream to glam up your look?

And if you’re feeling really extravagant, how about a little Gold?
